October 2021 Sector and Index Performance

During the month of October, the top 3 performing sectors were: indices (+6.90%), metals (+5.63%), and grains (+5.55%). The bottom 3 sectors were: livestock (-3.20%), softs (-1.29%) and interest rates (-0.27%). The stock market continues its march higher earning nearly 7% in the month of October. The livestock sector, specifically Lean Hogs, saw a decline in prices due to the oversupply in the global market with the main cause being the overcompensation of production because of ASF. Inflation continues to be of concern  as prices across the board continue to rise with no relief in sight. It will be an interesting end of the year!
